Modem & ISDN Internet Access
Even in this day of high-speed Internet access, the most popular Internet access method is still dial-up. FBS.NET offers dial-up access via 56K modem and ISDN. A modem communicates over a standard analog phone line and can achieve speeds of up to 52K. Yes, the modems themselves are sold as 56K but FCC regulations and technical issues limit the actual speed to 52K. ISDN is a digital communications line comprised of two 64K channels that can be used alone or in tandem to connect to the Internet at up to 128K. With the right equipment, either of these channels can also be used with an analog phone, modem or fax machine.
Dial-up services include one email account and unlimited interactive use. Additional email accounts are billed at $3 per month. Dial-up services listed here are not intended for those who need a continuous connection. Dial-up customers must refrain from using any technique to artificially keep their connection alive when not interactively accessing the Internet. Examples of such techniques are automated email checks, keeping an instant messaging program open, etc. While our dial-up service is "unlimited" use, the economics simply do not allow us to permit dial-up users to stay connected all the time. If you need to stay connected all the time, check out our DSL service.
