EMail Software Setup - Outlook Express

This page is detailed instructions to assist you in setting up Outlook Express to work with our MailEnable Mail server.  It only covers the setup for POP3/SMTP mode.

To setup Outlook Express, you will need to know your email address, mail server name, your username and your password.  If you have this information, open Outlook Express and Click Tools, Accounts.  On the new window, click the mail tab.  The windows should look similar to this:

Click the Properties button.  That will open a new window that looks like this:

The first field is the name for this email account.  You can name the account whatever you like.  Under User Information, Name is your name, as you want it to show up on emails you send.  If this is a business account, put the company name in Organization.  Email address must be filled in with your primary email address.  Reply address can be left blank.  Be sure the box at the bottom is checked.  When you finish, click the Servers tab.  That will change the window to this:

The first field is used to specify what kind of incoming server you have.  It should be set to POP3.  Enter your mail server name for both the Incoming and Outgoing servers.  Typically your server name is mail. followed by your domain name.  Your domain name is the part of your email address after the @ symbol.  Next, enter your username in the Account Name field.  Typically, your username is the same as your email address.  Enter your password.  If you check the Remember Password box, you won't have to re-enter your password every time you check your email.  Do not check the box labeled Log On Using Secure Password Authentication.  Check the box labeled My Outgoing Server Requires Authentication.  Click the Settings button and verify that the Outgoing Mail Server window looks like this:

If it does, click OK.  Click OK again. Finally, click Close.  That's it.  You are finished.
